Those who are contemplating about participating in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Race 2019 need to get packing and preparing with their crew and vessel soon. Though it is held in the month of December, there is much to prepare for and terms to comply with in order to get to the starting line of the race.
This particular year’s event would be the 75th edition. Being a global sailing event that is known for the tough and competitive sailing conditions that it represents, most who participate in this event usually come with several years of experience and many are regular competitors in this annual race.
As every year, the 2019 edition would start on Boxing Day from Sydney Harbor. At such a time there would be strong winds and that is what makes sailing tough and competitive for the monohulls. The offshore race course spans six hundred miles and covers the distance from Bass Straits to Hobart which lies in Tasmania. This is off the Southern coast of Australia.
For those who are contemplating to participate in the campaign, there is a week of training that they need to be at where they can understand what are the terms and rules of sailing to abide by. The race concludes by New Year’s Eve which provides enough time for everyone to be back home for the New Year.
The schedule of the race for 2019 comprises of a training week that would last from 17th to 23rd December. The lay days would be 24th and 25th December after which the race starts. Expected time of arrival is by 29th or 30th of December for most of the boats at the Constitution Dock of Hobart. The schedule of the events that are planned around the race and celebrations planned in Tasmania are all detailed on the official website.
